Sometimes just humming a hymn while doing chores can show your children how to practice faith in the best way.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When Donna was a little girl, she remembers her mother hanging laundry on a clothesline to dry. It was one of those lines with steel poles at both ends in the shape of a big T. As Donna would swing on the poles, she’d listen to her mother sing songs of worship, and it struck her that her mom was so full of joy while doing the most menial tasks. While Donna was swinging and listening, she’d listen to her mother talk wistfully about heaven and seeing her Savior. It impressed Donna when she was little, and it impresses her still. Looking back, she can see how her mother – in the most ordinary, everyday ways – passed on her faith to her children, even as she hung up damp laundry. Deuteronomy 11 tells parents to teach their children as they go through everyday duties. It’s a good lesson to put into practice today with your child.
