Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when you hear the words “disability ministry” what do you think of? Sign-language interpreters and special needs Sunday school teachers? Oh sure, that’s disability ministry—but it doesn’t always have to be that complex. Take 11-year-old Amanda. She has noticed how the kids with disabilities in her school often are not invited to birthday parties [and you know how it goes with kids and parties, right? You don’t want to feel left out]. Well, last year, Amanda made sure to invite all her special-needs classmates to her birthday party. And friend, that is disability ministry. Little wonder Jesus said we should become like little children. So don’t make serving others harder than it should be. All it takes is heart—and a little child-like imagination to get things rolling. And if you’re looking for ideas on disability ministry, and getting it started in your church, visit joniandfriends.org.
