You can’t help but sense God's nearness and closeness when you fall into his arms by the overwhelming conviction that you have nowhere else to go.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and my friend Emily used to describe closeness to God as well, cuddling up in the Lord's lap, embracing him and feeling his nearness. But then, Emily went through a horrible time – her husband of 18 years left her and their children for another woman. She was utterly devastated. Yet she remained close to God. This time, though, her sense of ‘closeness’ changed. Emily described it as collapsing unconscious into her Savior’s arms and feeling him carrying her. Oh friend, to me, that’s a muchbetter definition of being close to God. 2 Corinthians 1:9 tells us that “these things happen that we might not rely on ourselves, but on God who raises the dead.” Christian, you can’t help but sense God's nearness and closeness when you fall into God's arms by the overwhelming conviction that you have nowhere else to go. That is closeness.
