Every soul needs deep cleaning – pray for Jesus to scrub you clean!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and sometimes, I just love reading God’s Word from the King James version; it’s so poetic, so unusual, beautiful. And if there’s one verse that’s unusual in the KJV, it’s Psalm 51:2. It says, “Wash me throughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.” Did you catch that? I didn’t say “thoroughly,” I said “throughly.” You see, in Elizabethan language, the word “throughly” literally means “through and through.” And I like that, because I don’t want God to just take a washcloth to my soul; no. I need Jesus to pull out the Spic and Span, the Clorox, and scrub my heart through and through. Friend, every soul needs deep cleaning. We’ve all got hidden faults from which we need to be thoroughly cleansed. So join me in praying, “Lord Jesus, cleanse me today from my iniquity, take out the Spic and Span and scrub me inside out, through and through.”
