Today, repent from any sin in your heart, and let the flood of God’s mercy pour down on you – Jesus has taken all his wrath.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and when I was on my feet, I used to ride my horse near Liberty Reservoir in Maryland. At the far end of the lake was a huge dam and at its base there was a tiny stream. I would cross that stream in the shadow of the dam, and I would feel so scared, thinking, “Oh, my goodness, what if the dam broke right now and all that water came crashing down on me?” You know, I think of that whenever I read Romans 5, where it says, “Because of your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath.” Yikes! Yes, God has a reservoir of wrath, but it’s his amazing grace that, like a big dam, prevents it from crashing down on us sinful humans. Instead, all of God’s wrath against sin crashed down on Jesus as he hung on the cross. Today, repent from any sin in your heart, and let the flood of God’s mercy pour down on you.
