Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And if you’ve got kids, a job, and some health problems on top of that—you know that plans don’t always go as expected. That was the case with the Bee family. Last year, they were so disappointed that their schedule didn’t permit them to attend our retreat for special-needs families. Their friends heard how sad Mr. and Mrs. Bee and their kids were to miss camp and so, they came up with an idea: Why not gift this family with a day at the zoo?! And so, they raised money and provided help for the Bee family to have fun at the zoo. And they had a blast! You know, Proverbs 13 says, “Hope that is put off makes one sick at heart. But a longing that is met is like a tree of life.” Special-needs families often have their hopes put off, but, oh, how wonderful when friends come up with a hopeful alternative. Learn how you can be a tree of life to someone with a disability and their family at joniandfriends.org. Again, that’s joniandfriends.org.
