God never sends you into times of suffering without reminding you that there’s a hopeful future. It won’t be this way forever and he will come for you!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Our headquarters at Joni and Friends has a long ramp winding up to the second floor. One morning as I was wheeling up it, I paused to read the last Bible verse on the landing. Stamped on the wall is Isaiah 35:5-6. And I like to think of the many visitors in wheelchairs who, when they come to Joni and Friends, make that same long climb up the ramp. They, too, can be inspired by the Isaiah reminder that, one day, "The eyes of the blind will be open, the tongues of those who cannot speak will shout for joy, and the lame shall leap like deer!" It's God's vision of a hopeful future, meant to inspire the exiles who were being dragged off to Babylon. Because God never sends his people into times of suffering without reminding them, "It won't always be this way forever; so take courage. I will come for you!" Here’s hoping that that Isaiah thought inspires you today, as well!
