When your sin is exposed and put behind you, there’s something refreshing about knowing yourself at the core. You can then admit your sin to the Lord and move on.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Have you ever let off a little steam or may be told a tiny white lie and thought, “Hey, what I did wasn’t that bad?” After all, it was just a little fib, just getting my feelings out. But God tells us something different in Jeremiah 2, he says, “How can you say, ‘I am not defiled?’ See how you behaved … You are a swift she-camel running here and there, a wild donkey sniffing the wind in her craving.” What a humiliating analogy, but it reveals the core of who we are. Because I know if left to my own devices, I’d be sniffing out trouble like a donkey in heat sniffing the wind. Sure, when our sin is exposed it’s humiliating, but when it’s put behind you, there’s something refreshing about knowing yourself at the core. We can then admit our sin to the Lord and move on. So should you ever be tempted to think that you’re not such a bad sinner, open up your Bible and read Jeremiah.
