Real ministry is all about showing God’s love for people, no matter what their limitation.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And friend Jackie is the director of Access Ministry at McLean Bible Church. Jackie says churches often call her for advice on how to welcome children with severe autism. They want to know the best programs and how to design a specific outreach. But Jackie is quick to emphasize, “Don’t do a program. Do a person! You don’t have to be an expert in Down syndrome or autism. You just have to be an expert in love.” My goodness no truer words were ever spoken, not only when it comes to disability ministry, but any church outreach. Friend, don’t do a program; do a person. First John 4:16 says that God is love. So real ministry is all about showing his love for people, no matter what their limitation. If you’d like to learn more about giving the love of Jesus to people with disabilities in a practical way, then ask us at joniradio.org. Again that’s joniradio.org.
