You might look at yourself and see a few unbecoming specks here and there, but those specks are reminders of where you come from and where you’re headed in Christ.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. There is a special ring that's been passed down in our family. It is a stunning ring, but if you look closely, way down deep inside the diamond, you can easily see a speck of black carbon in the stone. Now I realize it is a flaw, but that speck reminds me of where that diamond came from, because every single diamond begins as a lump of coal. Then thousands of years later, as well as thousands of pounds of pressure, that lump of plain old dirty carbon turns into a precious diamond. It’s a great little illustration of 1 Corinthians 15. Sown in dishonor, it's a lump of coal – raised in honor, carbon becomes a precious stone – a diamond. So friend, you might look at yourself and see a few unbecoming specks here and there. But those specks? See them as reminders of where you came from, and how far you’ve come with Christ. And finally, just where you’re heading.
