Joni shares a fun story about how she was able to teach a child about her quadriplegia in a supermarket.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Wouldn’t you agree that children are very curious—especially when it comes to disabilities? One time while wheeling through a grocery store in my power wheelchair, a little boy pointed at me and said, “Hey, lady, I like your motorcycle!” The mother was so embarrassed and quickly apologized, but it made for a great opportunity for me to tell this child about my quadriplegia. It’s why I encourage you to talk to the kids in your life about disabilities. Take them on a visit to a children’s hospital or have them doodle with colored pencils in their mouths so they can learn how quadriplegics like me paint. Remember, Proverbs 22 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” And one more thing—we here at Joni and Friends would love to pray for you and your troubles. So, share with us your prayer need today at joniradio.org.
