Sometimes you have to do what you were called to do – even if it means going into horse corrals.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Michael is a little boy with autism and the church which his family attends happens to share the property with a therapeutic riding program. Well, one Sunday morning, Michael was having an autism meltdown; he just would not go into the classroom. He was too interested in the horses outside. After several failed attempts to get him inside, his Sunday school teacher took a fresh approach. If Michael could not be brought inside the building; then let’s take the Bible lesson outside – on a horse! The Sunday school teacher found a way to reach this boy with autism. Was it convenient? No; but it was what they were called to do. Luke 14 says we are to go into the streets and the alleys [and sometimes into the horse corrals] to meet the disabled where they are. So what will it take you to fill God’s house? It might just mean telling Bible stories on a horse!
