A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

A Romans 12 Attitude

Episode Summary

Choose joy with a Romans 12 attitude!

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I look at the marriage of my friends, Jerry and Joan Borton, I think of Romans 12 where it says: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” You see, Jerry has cerebral palsy, and he and Joan have been married for 20 years. Recently, Joan told me, “Joni … the day-to-day realities of wheelchairs and van lifts malfunctioning, and doctors visits can be disheartening. So how do I choose joy in all the caregiving demands? Well, it’s really not much of a secret; as much as I give care to Jerry, he returns the same care for me. Whether it’s the time he stops to listen to me, or the nightly foot massage, or going to the grocery store when I know he’d rather be watching baseball…our care for one another is mutual.” I love that! Oh friend, every marriage has its challenges, but even you, today, can choose joy with a Romans 12 attitude!
