A Sermon and a Scream

Episode Summary

Sometimes what you think may be a disaster, God will use it for good.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. For special-needs families, attending church can really be a challenge. Take Becky, and her son Chris who has autism. One day, in the middle of the sermon, Chris let out a scream—it was so loud, the pastor lost his train of thought! In embarrassment and tears, Becky ushered her son out of the church and into the car. But what Becky thought had been a disaster, God used to bring awareness. It became clear to everyone that this mother needed help. And now, Becky’s church has classes for special needs kids and “Family Nights,” where parents bring their children to events where they can be as noisy as they want. Amazing how that awful incident resulted in so much good. Matthew 15 says the crowds who followed Jesus brought the blind, the lame, and many others. It happened at Becky’s church, and it can happen at your church, as well. Learn how at joniandfriends.org.
