Sometimes all it takes to be like Jesus is a simple touch.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And have you ever met or even touched a leper? When we think of leprosy, we think of it as a thing of the past. But leprosy is a serious disease. When my friend Brian headed up our outreach to China, they visited a home of 25 lepers—all of whom [like in Biblical times] lived as outcasts, rejected by their families. Brian really wanted to help, but he didn’t know exactly what to do, and so he asked a leper if he could comb his hair. That’s right, Brian reached out and touched a leper. It spoke volumes, and it’s so like the story in Mark 1 where, filled with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched a leper. The lesson? Sometimes all it takes to be like Jesus is a simple touch, and like those Chinese lepers, there are many in need of your touch. Just go to joniandfriends.org to learn more.
