Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Before Ken left to serve on a Wheels for the World team to Cuba, I gave him an extra Joni book in Spanish with unique instructions. I said, “Ken, I know there’s a special girl in Cuba who really needs to hear God’s message in this book, and I’ll be praying you’ll find her!” He tucked it into his bag and when he saw Melanie, a shy, disabled teenager sitting off to the side, he knew she was the one. As Ken kneeled by her new wheelchair and shared my story, her eyes brightened. She could not believe there was someone in America, a teenager like her, who found lasting hope while sitting in a wheelchair. And that day, Melanie opened her heart to Christ.
