Live in such a way that honors what Jesus suffered for you. Get rid of every sin that entangles – don’t cling to the things that nailed Jesus to the cross.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And how often do you stop to consider the enormous, weighty price Jesus paid for our salvation? Isaiah describes the scene at the cross in these graphic terms: “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him … He was despised and rejected by men, a Man of Sorrows, acquainted with suffering.” When I read that, I want to get rid of every sin that entangles; I don’t want to cling to the things that nailed Jesus to the cross! I want to live in such a way that honors what Jesus suffered for me – don’t complain so much, Joni; don’t snap at your husband; be eager to share the Gospel be here to trust Jesus with your plight. Oh friend, yes, we rejoice in his salvation, but please, do not forget the weighty price Jesus paid for your salvation—a brutal death on a cross. Contemplate that death today and let his sacrifice bring you to repentance and reliance on your Lord.
