Whatever your hardships, take up the biblical call to look to the interests of others – you can serve others no matter your limitations!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. With quadriplegia, I have to take responsibility in managing my physical challenges. My friend Rebecca knows this. She has schizophrenia and knows there’s more to a mental challenge than just remembering to take her medications. So, Rebecca takes responsibility by reaching out to others, and volunteering her time tutoring students. Recently she wrote saying, “Joni… When life gives you a lemon, [you’ve got to] make lemonade. But what if life gives you a rotten lemon? Well, then [you’ve got to] plant the seeds and grow an orchard.” I love that perspective! Rebecca, despite her mental illness, has taken up the biblical call to look not only to her own interests, but to the interests of others. And friend, you, too, can serve others, no matter what your limitations. Just go to joniandfriends.org and learn how you can grow an orchard of joy for the glory of God.
