Tune into this program and hear Joni share 4 ways to combat depression.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with four ways to combat depression. You see, when I first became a quadriplegic, I sank into depression. Disability is hard enough, but depression makes it even harder. So, now when I begin to sense the blues coming on, I go on the offensive. First, I give thanks to God for everything. First Thessalonians 5 is a great antidote for the blues: there it says, “In everything give thanks.” Whether I feel like it or not, I mouth my thanks. Next, I look out for other’s interests before my own. My depression may scream for my undivided attention, but I know full well there are others whose circumstances are far more difficult than mine. Third, I take responsibility. I avoid things that make my depression worse. And finally, I hope in the future: that wonderful day when depression will be gone forever. It’s how I keep the blues at bay – and you can, too!
