When you arrive at the gates of heaven, arrive having spent yourself in God’s calling on your life.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my friend Steven recently attended a graveside service for his father-in-law. While standing beside the casket, someone asked aloud, “What do you think Dad would say if he could speak to us from his perspective in heaven?” Steven rolled his eyes; to him, the question seemed sentimental and syrupy. But then, his sister-in-law stunned him with her answer. She said, “I think that Dad would say that heaven is a place of rest, and so, it’s appropriate to arrive tired. Very tired.” When Steven shared this with me, I smiled. More than anything, when I arrive at the gates of heaven, I want to arrive bone-weary and utterly exhausted, having spent myself in God’s calling on my life. Do you resonate with that? Then hey, friend, let’s get to work. There is so much to do before we get to heaven.
