Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I know several Christian friends who live in intractable pain – they are hardly able to function, and few of them are bedridden. Yet they keep their trust in God, and their attitudes, bright. Yes, these friends long for the day when there will be no more pain in heaven, but in the meantime, they hang in there in good spirits. And I find that amazing. And when I consider these saints, I see them as part of the persecuted church. Except that their persecution is spiritual and unseen. It’s like this: Satan sees our deep suffering and so he needles us and nags us, poking and prodding us to doubt God and recant our faith. But like those brave Christians in the Middle East who’ve recently lost their lives, we must not recant. True, we may ‘lose our lives’ every day through pain and suffering; but we hold fast to our faith. Good advice for you today, if you feel overwhelmed by suffering.
