A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Be a Victor

Episode Summary

Don’t be a victim – let Christ define and shape your life so you can become a victor.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And we live in a day when so many people feel victimized – people don’t survive anymore: You don’t hear about burn survivors or polio survivors or sometimes even cancer survivors. No, but we hear about burn victims, and polio and cancer victims. It shows that words are important. Because words express how we feel, how we view a difficult situation. Friend, Christians are not victims. Dr. Michael Easley has said, “If you allow yourself to be defined and shaped by your pain and struggles, you are a victim. But if you view Christ as defining and shaping your life, you are a victor. You are an over comer.” When Jesus was on the cross, he never said, “I am finished.” Instead, he said, “It is finished.” You don’t need to feel beat up by your circumstances either. Let God do his perfect work through your problems, and when he’s done, you, too, can say, “It is finished.”
