Hi I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and my friend Jean Swenson is a quadriplegic who battles broken bones and constant pneumonia. But her uncomplaining spirit is such a beautiful testimony. All who know Jean are truly inspired by her. I said to her, “Jean, you remind me of Matthew 5:19 where Jesus says, “…Whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” I’m convinced that Jean practices and teaches God’s commands through her example – her example of patience, perseverance, and endurance. So guess what?! I believe Jean may well be called great in the kingdom of heaven. And you, friend, can aspire to do the same. God places great value on perseverance and in an uncomplaining spirit. So remember, James 1 says, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life.”
