Be like the fields and rejoice in the Lord today like it says in Ephesians!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. On a recent trip to the Midwest, I drove by a big, beautiful wheat field lined with trees. It was a windy afternoon, and the breeze rippled the wheat like waves of an ocean. The wind made the trees bend and sway and the leaves were shimmering in the sun. It was a most delightful scene, and when I returned home, I remembered it as I read Psalm 96: “Let the earth be glad… Let the fields be jubilant…Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord.” You know, sometimes you actually can see the earth be glad, can’t you?! Like that wheat field. And, hey, if the earth [which is God's creation] can be happy, you should be happy too. After all, you are the very epitome his creation. Friend, you were made to rejoice before the Lord. Ephesians even says you are the praise of his glory. So today, be like the fields; be like the trees and be glad in God!
