If you made plans that haven’t gone your way, leave room for some spontaneity. After all, it says in Ephesians, the Lord delights in doing more than you can possibly ask or imagine!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The most pleasurable moments are often those you never plan for. Like the time I was with my husband, Ken, at the beach. Toward the end of a beautiful day, we planned to have dinner at a restaurant—but it turned out, the restaurant was not accessible! Both of us were disappointed, but we weren’t going to allow that to ruin our evening out. So, we proceeded to go down the boardwalk, when we heard piano music coming from a hotel lobby. Ken and I snuck in, listened for a while—and then, Ken turned towards me and said, “Madam, may I have this dance?” And I tell you, there we were, me in my wheelchair spinning in circles, and Ken pretending to be Fred Astaire! Friend, if you have plans that haven’t gone your way [and it happens to everybody]. Leave room for some spontaneity. After all, it says in Ephesians, the Lord delights in doing more than we could possibly ask or imagine. And that is a promise for you.
