Beautiful Scars

Episode Summary

Whatever scar you bear, let it be a reminder to everyone who sees it that you belong to Jesus—and not to the world.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s been decades since I broke my neck and had surgery to fuse my vertebrae, but you can still see the scar. And I kind of like that. That’s because the scar reminds me of who I am. As Paul says in Galatians 6: “… I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus.” Yup, that gash on my neck is God’s mark of ownership on me; a mark that my life truly was and is in his hands. So, friend, what is God’s mark of ownership on you? Maybe it’s a scar from an emergency C-section or a gang tattoo from your old way of living—these are physical signs that remind you of God’s saving grace. Plus, they are tangible reminders of your never-ending need of Jesus. Christian, you belong to God. So, whatever scar you bear, no matter how unattractive, let it be a reminder to everyone who sees it that you depend and belong to Jesus—and not to the world.
