If you’re facing a hard trial, let it refine your faith and you will end up faithful.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Sarah suffers from chronic pain and although she is thankful that it is refining her faith, it still hurts! She asked the other day, “Joni, am I really thankful for pain if I don’t want it to be there?” I understand that question. Because there was a time I was anything but thankful for my wheelchair. But over time I began to appreciate the way God was using it to refine my faith. I especially appreciated it when I read in 1 Peter 1 that God considers refined faith more precious than gold. When I grasped that fact, that’s when I became thankful for my wheelchair. As hard as my chair is, it is winning for me something out of this world. Refined faith that’s better than gold. And one day, Sarah’s going to experience the same, especially as she looks at her pain through the lens of Scripture. Are you facing a hard trial? Let it refine your faith and you, too, will end up thankful.
