God’s love is like a parent’s love. Parents forget when their children do wrong because their love can’t retain those sins for very long.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And every parent has felt the sting of a child who lies or gets into trouble at school. At that moment, all you can think of is how you wish your child would obey. But an amazing transformation seems to take place when the child is a grown adult, and parents are much older. Children who once were described as little devils now seem to be angels. “It was all part of growing up,” say the parents, “our children did well.” It’s not memory loss, or old-age, or thinking what their kids did long ago was not that big a deal. Parents forget because their love can't retain those sins for very long. And God’s paternal love is just like that. In Isaiah 43, the Lord says, “I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remember your sins no more.” Thank the Lord for that! Because it’s not divine dementia, it’s the blood of Christ that blots out our sins forever. Hallelujah!
