A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Booked and Busy

Episode Summary

Instead of getting busy dying – get busy living!

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Who would ever think that a novel by Stephen King would contain such rich gems of truth worth remembering! Although the man is an agnostic, he once wrote “Hope is a good thing; maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies. So, get busy living or get busy dying.” Wow! You know, I often think about that phrase when I wake up in the morning to face my wheelchair. I have to push away discouragement and, with the Lord’s help, choose to get busy living. It’s a little like the wisdom in Psalm 143 where the psalmist says, “[Oh Lord] let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting in you.” So, friend, if you face pain and discouragement when you wake up in the morning, hold on to Psalm 143 and the grace of God. It’s the best way to not get busy dying but get busy living.
