Sometimes the best way to honor the Lord is to hold your tongue from complaining.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and sometimes we are so quick to complain when hardships hit. We reason that nobody’s listening or that no one is around to observe us when we let off steam. Who’s it gonna hurt? Well, whenever we are tempted to grumble about some awful problem, 1 Corinthians 6:20 warns us, “You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.” Look, maybe others don’t care if you’ve privately expressed your resentments, but God cares. He cares how you and I respond to our hardships because our attitude either glorifies him or it doesn’t. It either builds our faith or diminishes it. It either edifies the body of Christ or weakens it. Remember, your body with all its attending problems has been purchased with a price. So, hold your tongue from complaining. It is, perhaps, the best way you can honor the Lord today.
