Hear Joni tell a sweet story about a boy who can really sing! It’s a good reminder of Isaiah 35.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Not long ago, 11-year-old Christopher came with his parents for a visit to our International Disability Center. Christopher was born prematurely at 26 weeks, and he weighed less than 2 pounds. Christopher is blind and has autism, but wow, can he sing! When he was adopted, his parents realized that he had perfect pitch. So that day at the office, Christopher and I sang his favorite song: “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” Oh, how wonderful that day will be when the promise of Isaiah 35 comes true: when the eyes of the blind will be opened, when the lame will leap like deer and the mute will shout for joy! That day is still way in the future, but Christopher is bringing the far distant future, near and real with every song of praise he sings. So, friend, if you know a kid with a disability, make the future come near; draw heaven down to earth by singing together your praise to God!
