Celebrate Interdependence

Episode Summary

Let your shortcomings drive you to Jesus and give thanks for the people in your life who help.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I am a very independent person. I love doing as many things as I possibly can for myself. But the Bible makes a big thing about interdependence. And that’s a good thing. Because of my quadriplegia, people help me get dressed in the morning, they bathe me, sit me up in my wheelchair, they brush my teeth. Sometimes it makes me feel a little bad, having to lean on people so much; but it teaches me how to lean on Jesus. Second Corinthians 1 says that these things happen that “we might not rely on ourselves but on God.” Oh friend, you may not be in a wheelchair like me, but you can’t do life all on your own, either. Whether it’s a pair of extra hands or someone giving you advice, please, rely on others. Celebrate interdependence: let your shortcomings drive you to Jesus and to others and may it be a reason to give thanks for the people in your life who help you.
