Your troubles are the very means God will use to advance his glorious Gospel.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My wheelchair is the cause of so many interesting conversations. I remember once being in an elevator. The guy standing next to me asked, “Tell me, what’s a nice girl like you doing in a thing like that?” Surprised and with a smile, I said to him, “Well, sir, I’m serving God in this wheelchair.” And I told him how this thing had opened doors to Joni and Friends sharing the hope of Jesus with people affected by disability. Because as the apostle Paul says in Philippians 1, “What has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel… because of my chains” – that is, my wheelchair – “my brothers and sisters in the Lord are encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously.” So friend, whatever your condition, whatever your situation, do not see your troubles as an obstacle. See your troubles – your chains – as the very means God will use to advance his glorious Gospel.
