Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And we live with the illusion that modern medicine [and enough money] can fix anything. You know what, we got the same notion when we pray. For many of us, prayer is the way to fix things; to make things physically better, easier, happier. You’ll have to agree, our prayers sometimes are unbalanced. True, we can and should pray about our infirmities, but let’s change the emphasis of our prayers from physical healing alone to God accomplishing his purposes in and through afflictions. The New Testament tells us to pray for people who give us a hard time, pray for strength to endure difficulties, pray for children, persecuted Christians, and pray for God’s forgiveness as we forgive others, pray also that we’ll not fall into temptation, and pray for boldness in proclaiming the gospel. And that friend, is just scratching the surface. So today, get your prayers in balance.
