Cheer Up Friend!

Episode Summary

The more broken you are, the more that you can display God’s power.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and living with quadriplegia is like living in a body of broken clay. Like an old, cracked clay pot. But that’s not so bad. Second Corinthians 4 says that we Christians are all like jars of clay – jars that hold a precious treasure, the power of the life-transforming Gospel. And it seems the more fragile, the more clay-like our bodies; the more broken our vessel, the more of God’s power can be displayed. Second Corinthians 4 goes on to say that we carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed through our body of clay. Perhaps for you it’s your aging eyes or your aching back—yep, you are a weak and fragile vessel, but a precious one in God’s sight! So, cheer up friend, you are a cracked pot who carries the life of Jesus! And through you, His beloved jar of clay, God’s power is on display.
