When others are against us, Christ fights for us!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And one day, my friend Billy Burnet came to work with a downcast face. When I asked what was wrong, he explained that his teenage son, Byron, had gotten jumped by two men. Byron walked in the door with his face bloody and swollen. Billy was heartsick, but he also knew that seeds of resentment could grip Byron. So that night, Billy opened up to Luke 6 and he read to his son the word of Jesus. “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you.” Billy and Byron prayed together the night of that tragedy, recommitting themselves to love and not hate; to bless and not curse. Oh, listening parent, if your child has been wronged, I encourage you to do the same. Instill in them the attitude of Christ, that when others are against us, it is Christ who fights for us. That’s the lesson that Billy taught his son.
