Remember that in Christ, you are completely competent. By God’s power, you can serve his kingdom.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I have been given all kinds of salutations to my name, including Pastor and Reverend [neither of which I am] and even Dr. [despite the fact that I’ve never been to Bible college and am only a high school graduate!]. You know, there was a time I used to be embarrassed by the fact that I had no real scholastic degrees. I felt incompetent and I doubted whether my message was worth sharing. Later though, I realized that although I am inadequate in many ways, my competence comes from God. Second Corinthians 3 says, “By ourselves we are not qualified to claim that anything comes from us. Rather, our credentials come from God.” Perhaps you, too, have experienced self-doubt and feelings of inferiority that have limited your service to God. If so, remember that in Christ, you are completely competent. By God’s power, you can serve in his kingdom.
