Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And many times when you are struggling with another person [maybe your spouse; a neighbor; your boss]; when you’re struggling, you’ll often ask God to just fix that person; change their attitude; show them where they’re wrong; help them to see the error of their ways. But sometimes the “thing” prayer fixes and the person God ends up changing is you, isn’t it? It’s why Philippians 2 says, “In humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” It’s hard to consider difficult people for whom you pray as better than yourself, but when you do, power is released in your prayers, and people’s attitudes begin to change. So, do you have an irritating person in your life? In humility, look out for his best interest today and pray for him. Change can’t help but happen – not only in his heart, but yours.
