A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Cut it Out

Episode Summary

Sometimes it’s good to do a little surgery on your life. Cut those little spots of sin in your life early on so that you can avoid major surgery.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And my friend Kathren recently went in to go see her dermatologist for a small growth on her hand. It turns out that Kathren had actinic keratosis – a pre-cancerous growth that untreated can develop into skin cancer. After the doctor cut it off, Kathren thought it was all behind her – that is, until she noticed the growth had returned. Once again, Kathren went to her doctor to have it removed – this time it was burned off – and she left with a stern warning that if the spot returned a third time, they would have to “treat it more aggressively.” Yikes! It reminds me of what C.S. Lewis once said, “You say that these are very small sins, but remember: it does not matter how small the sins are; their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into nothing.” Wow. So, friend, bring those little sins, those little spots – expose them into the light because if not, you’ll find yourself in the dark.
