Episode Summary

Hold onto God in the dark, and you’ll find your way back to the light.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, I often talk to Christians – yes, Christians – who feel utterly defeated by their trials. Depression settles over them like a thick blanket of darkness, and they simply cannot see any light, any hope, any answer. And you know I can identify. In the early days, my paralysis left me groping in the dark, unable to see anything from God’s point of view. It’s why, even now when I feel overwhelmed by chronic pain, I am always helped by Isaiah 50:10, “Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.” Oh friend, right there is a great verse to hang on to when you’re depressed or in pain. If darkness is all around you, and you cannot see any light, any hope in your situation; trust in the name of the Lord. The name that says that He is your defender, deliverer, and helper. Hold on to Him in the dark, and you will find your way back to the light.
