Today if you receive praise for a job well done, deflect that praise onto the Lord Jesus.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I love the way Corrie ten Boom would receive praise from others [Corrie was the woman who hid Jews in her home during the Nazi occupation of Holland]. After Corrie was released from a concentration camp where she was sent, she had a worldwide speaking ministry. And, of course, people showered accolades on her. But she would say, “I receive each comment as though it were a rose, and then in the evening, I lift a beautiful bouquet back up to God.” The Bible says to let another man’s lips praise you. And Corrie teaches us that when those praises come, it’s always best to offer them up to God. Today if you receive praise for a job well done, or a service you performed, or a wise insight you shared, deflect that praise onto the Lord Jesus who, alone, is worthy to receive all honor and glory. It’s a good lesson from our friend Corrie ten Boom.
