Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I remember the time my husband Ken said early on in our marriage, “I give up. I can’t do this. I’m trapped.” My caregiving routines had pushed Ken to the end of his strength. But his story is not uncommon. John was in a similar situation, providing care for his disabled wife Alyssa. And John was discouraged. Although both Ken and John wanted to give up, they both read Psalm 27 where it says, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart: Wait, I say, on the Lord!” John also reached out to Joni and Friends, and we sent him some resources. And my wonderful husband even sent John a great article he wrote for husband-caregivers.
