Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. A member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, Dominick Mazza was no stranger to close encounters with death. But after several years, his near-death experiences left Dominick with flashbacks that brought on fear—fear of dying. But Dominick knew he had to hold on to his faith. And so, he kept rehearsing Hebrews 2. It says there that Jesus broke “the power of him who holds the power of death…and freed those whose lives were held in slavery by their [get this] their fear of death.” Even in his last days of life, Dominick never let go of that promise. He told me, “Joni, if I go tonight, I know where I’m going. I don’t have to be afraid.” Maybe you know someone like Dominick who fears that final day. Help them make their peace with God. Help them exchange their fear of death for hope, a lively hope in Christ.
