Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The other day my get-up girl and I were reading from our morning devotional book called Streams in the Desert. And the writer made a fascinating observation. She said, “Waiting on God brings us to our journey’s end quicker than our feet.” I asked my get-up girl to pause and read that again, and all day I kept pondering it: If we want to get to the end of a thing quickly, then we’ve got to wait on the Lord or, as Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” To wait for the Lord means to not rush ahead; not make spur-of-the-moment rash decisions; it means to not settle for something good when something great is right around the corner. To wait on the Lord shows God that you are definitely thinking of him first. Because, friend, when you wait for God, you will get to your journey’s end a lot quicker than with your feet.
