When facing trouble, don’t shake it off. Take a hold of his hand of grace and guidance.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and we sure are a proud and independent people, aren’t we? Just ask yourself what you would do if, while crossing the street, a Boy Scout reached to steady your arm. You’d probably give him an odd look and politely shake him off, right? But let’s say the traffic was obscured by a blinding snowstorm. Maybe then, you would appreciate the aid of a steady arm. Well, friend, that is the reason why God fills your life with so many troubles. Because it’s in hard times that the Lord reminds us that we can’t do it on our own. We can’t mend our broken hearts or heal our aching bodies. And in that reminder, God extends his helping hand: giving strength to the weary and healing the broken hearted. So, when facing trouble, don’t shake off his hand of grace and guidance. After all, he is [as Psalm 46 puts it], “… your ever-present help in trouble.”
