Dress yourself up in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. This “clothing” will draw attention to God in a good way.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. A passage in Exodus describes the garments of Israelite priests—in great detail! God wanted His priests clothed in a particular way, reflecting the dignity of their role and the purity of the God they served. There were regulations about tassels, turbans, breastplates, belts and even undergarments. If these details overwhelm you, turn quickly to the New Testament because in 1 Peter, we read about our priesthood as Christians. It says that we’re “a royal priesthood… that [we] may declare the praises of him who called [us] out of darkness into his wonderful light.” And how are we to dress as God’s priests? It says, “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Rather than being compelled by Old Testament law, today, be compelled by the liberating mercies of God. Dress yourself today in clothing that’ll draw attention to Him.
