Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. We all know most teenagers don’t like being pushed out of their comfort zones—especially when it comes to making new friends. Well, last summer, Cameron, a 17-year-old high school junior, was encouraged by his mother to volunteer at a Joni and Friends Family Retreat for special needs families. But Cameron doesn’t have a disability, and he doesn’t know anyone who does. Well, to Cameron’s surprise, he loved his time at camp so much, he decided to do an internship with our office! Oh friend, this young man did as Luke 14 says: He stepped out of his comfort zone, went beyond his limits to reach the disabled and bring them to Christ. So, if you’re a parent or a teacher, encourage the young people in your life to step out of their comfortable box and serve people with disabilities. We’ve got plenty of opportunities for them to do that at joniandfriends.org. Please visit us today at joniandfriends.org.
