Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. For 15-year-old Jacob, playing football was always his dream. But because Jacob lives with muscular dystrophy, he cannot use his legs. Its why, last summer, Jacob was so excited about meeting my head coach of the Ohio State football team while attending a football camp. The coach not only gave Jacob a few pointers on throwing a spiral, but he also made him a part of the team. And today, Jacob is at the Ohio State practice room, at meetings, and hanging out with the guys. They even named him honorary team captain. Oh, my goodness, no matter what team you might root for, I bet this story has you smiling. And it’s such a good illustration of Paul’s command in Titus 2 where he says, “Encourage the young men.” Short and simple. So, if you know a teen that needs encouragement, especially one going through a difficult time—find a way to strengthen him in Christ. It’s the Titus 2 thing to do.
