Hear a word from Joni about the powerful lesson in Jesus’s crucifixion in Mark 15.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And there’s a powerful lesson in the account of Jesus’s crucifixion in Mark 15. It says there that the whole company of soldiers mocked him, beat him, all before nailing him to a cross. And all the while Jesus prayed to the Father for their forgiveness. But get this – the Bible says there was one, one centurion “who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, and said, ‘Surely this man was the Son of God!’” This soldier saw and heard the whole thing – from the battering and beating, all the way to those precious words Jesus finally offered, “Father, forgive them for they knew not what they do.” And it was Jesus’s faithfulness through his suffering that caused this centurion to praise God. Yes, there will be many people who will mistreat you, but when you go through trials with your eyes heavenward? Someone will bless the Lord for your faith.
