Sometimes you may feel like a sketch ready to be thrown away. But you’re not meant to be thrown in the trash. God will make you a beautiful picture that will give him all the glory.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I used to paint and draw [I don’t do much now due to chronic pain], but when I used to, if I really liked a sketch, that rendering would get bruised and battered with erasures and revisions. I wouldn’t set it aside or trash it. And you know what? I'm convinced God deals with us in the same way. Because often we can feel like that sketch, right? Like we’ve been scribbled on, then erased and moved this way and that. But it shows that God is interested in us. And what’s more; he’s not finished with us. Philippians 1 puts it this way, “… He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” The Lord has a final idea in mind and he’s bringing you into conclusion—through revision after revision, he’s got a composition in mind. And that composition looks very much like Jesus Christ. And that will make you a beautiful picture that gives God glory.
